Auto "dial in"

Hi folks....I would like to know how to disable the "auto
dial in" which Windows seems to command all the time.
Whatever ISP or dialer method which was last used, gets
dialed repeatedly, I believe because somewhere in Windows
is looking for updates. There has been a message at
times which states that xxxxx has asked to check on
updates, which dialing program would I like to use. But
usually, provided I have dialed in using some ISP, that
particular ISP starts dialing in, or at least
initializing to dial in, repeatedly. I have to either
cancel it, or close the program a few times until it
stops, only to start again in a few minutes. Where do I
disable this? It is annoying. Thanks in advance...Dave
Terifay.

Hi Dave ...
Here is a possibility ... might even work for you.
Go to:
Control panel
Internet Options
Connections
There are some connection options there, one of which
is "Never Dial a Connection". When I switched to DSL, I
selected that option ...
