Using Dial up blocks LAN traffic

M

Madiya

We have LAN for access to our file servers and dial up to access
internet.
I am facing a peculer problem.
As and when I start dial up connection for internet, all my LAN
traffic is blocked.
The moment I disconnect dial up, again LAN comes back online.

Is it possible to use both LAN (for all activities) and dialup (only
for internat) connections at the same time?

Pl help.

Madiya

The problem is (well it's not a problem actually) that the DUN connection
uses the default setting that states that the DUN connections Default
Gateway should be used.

You uncheck this from the TCP/IP settings of the DUN Connection. It's on the
Advanced-settings.

This is there to prevent split tunneling scenarios in which your computer
can communicate with LAN and DUN at the same time. You could get a trojan
from the other connection and it could the talk to the other network. When
you open a DUN all communications is directed there and not the LAN.

I believe this your "problem"

Hi Sami,
Thanks for your help.
You are right. But when I uncheck default setting that states that
default
Gateway should be used, DUN stops working entirely and I can not
connect or open any web site, not even google home page.
Any ideas?

Regards,
Madiya.
