Auto-archive emails unretrievable

how can I retrieve Archived emails when I've used Auto-archive function? I
can see WHERE the *.pst file is, but when I try and import it into my Outlook
program, none of the archived emails comes back. The file is 30-odd MB in
size.

Do not try to import it. Just open it.
File menu > Open > Outlook Data File
