Autmatic update not working

Hi,

I am using Windows XP profesional. Automatic update is
not working in my PC though I hv made all required
setting in control pannel--->system-->Automatic update. I
hv tried many option but not getting through.

Also I am not getting windows update icon on task bar.

Can anybody help me to suggest how to make automatic
update operational.

Hello
Not all updates qualify for the Auto Update.
MS will release updates some will qualify and some will not.
You may check the update site and find some updates that never pop up in the
auto update, this does not mean the auto is not working.
