audio sync problems

I'm not trying to ADD alternative audio to my video. I'm simply trying to
get the audio to sync up to the video. All I'm doing is loading video
directly from MiniDV via firewire. It was recommended that I do that in .AVI
format in order to sync. Everytime I play back the finished product, it is
off by several seconds. Please advise.

So the audio is just the audio that recorded with the video?
If you are having problems with audio sync right from your capture the
problem is likely a resources one.
