Audio - Microphone not detected after reinstalling Win XP

Hi,
I reinstalled Windows XP Professional on my computer today after formatting
everything. Now, my computer works fine except that my sound system devices
are not detected at all. The microphone and speakers are connected to the
computer but when I go to sound and devices, it says that there is not sound
device attached. Everything was fine until I reinstalled XP. I don't know if
there is a problem in detecting the sound card or just microphone and
speaker. Can you please help me rectify it? I am not able to hear or speak
through computer. Thanks for your help and support.

Hello,
I know that I need to install audio drivers or sound card drivers. But it
doesn't even detect sound card if I try to run Belarc advisor or dxdiag.exe
to find out the sound card installed in my computer. I have to first find
which sound card is on my computer and it does not get detected in any way. I
dont want to open the computer and find out. I want to know the sound card
type and then install drivers. Please tell me the way to find out sound card.

Well, seeing as you didn't grab the information before reinstalling,
you'll probably end up cracking your case open. Your one hope is to
check with the manufacturer of your PC, and see if it doesn't list the
specifications and/or drivers for your sound card.
