Audio Feedback to Speakers

Sambo

When troubleshooting audio problems using Skype, I went to the Control Panel,
selected "Sounds and Audio Devices," then under "Voice" tab, "Test Hardware."
The test is fine for microphone, but when going to next step, and speaking
in normal voice, I get ever-increasing sound and echo to the point of
unusability. I've used the DirectX diagnostic tool and find nothing wrong,
even making some suggested changes, all to no avail. This is a simple Labtec
microphone and standard desktop speakers. System worked fine several months
ago.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Better still, under Volume Control > Options > Playback Devices select to
Mute the Microphone. It will still work but won't be played through your
speakers.

Your solution is much better than mine.
