Audio drop outs with MP11

I have a new Dell XPS 410 with vista pre installed. It will not play audio in
media player 11 without freezing up and dropping the audio. I have a 5 year
old win XP computer that runs MP11 without any problems. Real player and jet
audio will play music in vista without problems. If MP11 was written for
vista, why doesn't it work?

What audio and video codecs are you using on vista? I've found that the
klite codec pack can cause problems with audio in many applications including
wmp11. Other wise just reinstall vista on your new laptop. Dell installs so
much garbage on their laptops that its been shown that putting a clean
install of the operating system on a new dell machine considerably speeds it
up and gets rid of a lot of problems caused by the Dell software.

Try disabling all enhancements for your sound card. Worked for me on my Dell
laptop.
