I recently installed windows XP, before I had wndows ME. My speakers were
working properly under windows ME. After installing windows XP the systems
doesn't recognize my speakers. They are plugged in and powered. But the
controle panel states that there is no audio device. I don't understand. Do
I need another driver for my speakers or so? Can anyobe tell hoe to fix this.
The speakers are from harman/kardon

I would not expect XP to recognize speakers, unless they would be powered
speakers and receive their digital data through USB or equivalent. Such
speakers would count as an audio device, and likely need to have their
driver installed first.

If XP finds no audio device, then it has not identified your sound card (nor
such USB-device) as such. It is likely to need its own drivers - and they
may differ from those you used with ME.
Refer to its installation media (and documentation), and check its maker's
web site for updates.
