Hi
currently I'm running windows xp home edition, I have
reformatted and reinstalled the windows xp for at least 5
times now but of no avail, the system can not detect
Sound Blaster Audigy card (the Gamer edition).
Before I begin, I have a Gigabyte GA-60XET Motherboard
based on Intel's chipset i815EP, I'm running pentium III
1.1 GHz processor with 512 SDRAM PCI 133. This
motherbaord has 6 PCI slots, and one AGP 4x slot.
What happens is as follows:
1. Reformat the harddrive, reinstall windows xp home
edition.
2. Update motherboard drivers.
3. Install the Audigy card.
Now we come to the interesting part, the windows detects
the card, in other meaning, "a hardware wizard" window
appear telling me that a new hardware was detected, and
they tell its the "multimedia device" then, they ask me
to supply the drivers cd.
As instructed, I ingnore the message, then I insert the
Audigy CD, and install the drivers, I usually got
accustomed, if the card is installed successfuly, to see
windows during the installation telling me to choose my
sound system setup and it goes as follows:
1. 2 speakers
2. 4 speakers
3. 5.1 speakers
4 Live!Wire spkears
5. headphones
and becasue I have creative 5.1 inspire 5300 speaker
system I choose the 5.1, but this time I was presented
with all the choices except the 5.1 choice, I thought it
might be an ordinary thing since I've never installed the
card in a "barenaked" system, a windows system without
any third party software or updates, by the way I came up
with this expression.
Anyway, The drivers installe fine, but when I look
inside the hardware device manager, I find the
following "thing" under the network adapters
"IEEE 1394 network adapter" item a black exclamation mark
in a yellow circle.
when I double clicked this Item, and read the device
status section, I found a "code 10 message, device could
not start". What happens after that is repeated history.
First of all you don't hear any sound or may be a faint
sound coming from the emulator or EMuk10 that has placed
the Audigy sound card in the sound preference under the
control panel, and when I try to use the mixer settings,
nothign happens or the mixer settings never shows up, or
the taskbar itself disappears, and I if tried to apply
the new driver updates, I get a message telling me that
my sound card is not installed properly, and I need to
reinstall it.
I have already tried everyting, I have moved the card to
each and everyone of the 6 PCI slots and coupled that
with a reformat and reinstall of my windows xp home
edition with each placement of the card. I have done this
after hours and hours of backing up my system.
I have updated the bios, and still the problem exists,
I'm sure the card is fine.
Is there anyone who can help me with this problem
P.S. the card is fine I'm sure, but I don't know if its a
problem with the bios or something else I don't really
know.
