Creative Sound Blaster Audigy can't work with XP?

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Dell desktop PC with Windows XP Home
Edition pre-installed. All worked fine until I tried to install my
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy card into the PC. The sound card has
worked perfectly on my previous PC which runs on Windows 2000. Below is
what I have done when I tried to install the sound card into my PC.

1. Insert the sound card into a PCI slot.
2. Turn on the PC and in system setup (press F2 after system startup),
turn "Integrated Audio Controller" off. (This is the user guide
instructed me to do if I install a separate sound card.)
3. When XP was booted up, I wasn't prompted with any "new hardware
found" message.
4. I tried to install the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy driver CD, but
the following error message was displayed:
"Setup could not detect any sound blaster audigy on your system. Please
ensure that your sound blaster hardware is properly installed before
running this setup program. Setup will exit now."

I can now only resort back to my Integrated Audio Controller.

I also spotted that in system setup -> PCI info, the message "Unknown,
BS Peripheral" message is displayed for the PCI Slot.

Do anyone have any idea about this? I know that it is a problem
encountered by some other else, but I haven't been able to locate a
solution...

Thanks.

- Kelvin.

Yes, but the same error was prompted...
Thx anyway.

I've got two Creative Audigy soundcards in two machines running XP Pro
so the problem is with your hardware. Try putting the soundcard in a
different PCI slot.
