Audigy 2 drivers

have got the vista beta drivers from creative, but no matter how many times i
install, when i restart all i get is 'no audio output device is installed'

Have tried 3 other sound cards and i can't for the life of me get any sound
working on this computer.

The creative sound card worked super fine on xp before the vista upgrade.

Am running vista build 5384 if that means any thing to you guys?

The Creative drivers are for Beta 1...as you found out, they do not work on
Beta 2.
I would suggest you SEARCH this forum with the word creative. There have
been a few people who say they have been able to install XP drivers by
jumping through hoops...

I got the Audigy ZS drivers to work for beta 2, but without gameport
functions.

Care to post the steps? I have an Audigy 2ZS and my initial attempts to
install failed, so I went back to onboard audio until they come out with new
drivers...
How about the firewire connection?

I cannot get Audio 2ZS to install either. ''No audio device installed". I
know it is because it works in XP on my other drive. It also worked in Vista
Beta 2 when I did an up grade install. I now have a clean install and no
sound yet.

What is the ''onboard audio"? - that is new to me.

Thanks for the info.

What is your motherboard? You can visit the mobo or computer maker's
website and it should tell what the integrated sound device is. Someone
here may be able to help also.

I have the same problem with the 2zs.
I have attempted both the xp drivers as well as the creative vista beta
drivers with no luck.

Zapper,

I think you are right - no on board sound. When I ordered it I had the
choice of integrated or Sound Blaster Audigy, I went with the Audigy because
I had their products before and was happy. That and the fact ''Sound
Blaster'' is such a cool name<G>.

Not quite 4K <G> - I don't have any high end video stuff on here - I like
''light and fast"

I have XP on a separate drive and the sound card works fine there - Vista is
my ''play with'' drive. I can now boot to either drive thanks to the
extended help of the people at the VistaBootPro site.

Ron,

went to the Creative site to get the Vista Beta drivers - couldn't install
needed Microflash
booted to the XP drive, got the drivers - copied them to the Vista drive
installed them, after being asked twice if I wanted to, and I had sound -
life was good
came to the newsgroup to make this post - keyboard didn't work - life was
bad
decided to try ''system restore'' - it showed a point right before making
the driver installation so I restored.
machine booted back to default XP, check keyboard, it worked, re-booted to
Vista got:
"some kind of error happened to restore, please shut down restore blah blah
blah yada yada yada"
(this is not an EXACT quote<G>) - life sucked AGAIN
clicked my way though the warning boxes, Vista came to life and the keyboard
works
AND there is sound - life is good - for now
I have sound as of 9:32 AM 6/23/2006
(I may also have sent some blank post to this group by mistake during my
experimenting
if so - my bad - sorry)

I installed the Beta 1 32bit drivers fine on build 5384, to my knowledge they
are the same driver for the 64bit and 32bit versions.
It worked fine until I launched Media Center then sound died, i restarted
and was prompted to install the drivers for the Multimedia Device and Unknown
Device.
The steps I used to fix this were as follows.
Downlod the Beta 1 driver from Creative Support website.
Start the install
Alt+Tab out to C:\Windows\Temp (or other Temporary Directory for your
Current User)
Copy the CRF000 folder and its contents to your root C: Drive.
Right Click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Device Manager
Click Ok if prompted to run as Administrator
Double Click the Multimedia Device
Click Reinstall Driver
Click Browse My computer for Drivers
Browse to the C:\CRF000 Drictory and click Ok
Put a check mark in the box for Include Subfolders, and click next
It should recognize your card and youll hear sound before rebooting.
For me I hear crackling when ANY kind of load is put on the machine, Open a
browser refresh a page, open a new window, and even closing windows. Tested
this on several different players and sound processors.
As for ONBOARD sound, system resources are indeed used by using these
devices. It takes a percentage of the CPU and System Memory to support the
onboard devices your computer has, video much more so successfully cutting
your system performance in as much as half in worse cases even more.
Test it out, Go into your Bios disable your onboard sound, and launch your
favorite game with a program to display FPS (frames per second), or even just
experiencing the difference yourself.
Hope this helps you all.

My eternal thanks for the step by step instructions to installing a working
driver for my soundcard.
I have spent 4 hours today with no luck until I came to your posting.
I thought I would be smart enough that I downloaded the XP 64 drivers and
installed them and everything looks good other than there is no sound coming
out of my system. I hope the Creative guys get it straight and update their
beta so it can work for the Beta 2
Be well

Well for all of those that are just as frustrated as I was here is a bit of
relief.
I spent 6 hours trying to fight this system and as all great discoveries
this just came as if from heaven.
I am using an an HP Pavillion and decided to install an Audigy 2 Value
soundcard.
At first after finishing my installation of Vista 64 it notified me that
there was no driver for my sound card.
I went to the Creative site and downloaded their beta driver for Vista.
I ran the Vista 64 and it did not complete saying that my software was not
supported by it. It seems that it was designed for the beta 1 of Vista and
they have to update it.
After a while I decided to see if I could reinstall the XP 64 driver and all
went great with the exception that there was no sound coming out . I knew
that something was going right because it asked me if I wanted to re-install
the driver and also at the end of the installation the speaker icon had some
green colored waves coming out of it.
Frustrated I decided to re-install the Vista 64 driver on top of the XP
drivers and after two attempts voila great sound!!!
Sound was coming out of it as if by a miracle. …old windows theme I must
warn you! The sound is of good quality. But there is only one thing and that
is my microphone is not working right. Does anyone have a suggestion for this
problem?
Also to let you know I have not been able to install all of the creative
applications so I decided to un-install them.
I want to take advantage of the speech recognition software built in. It
worked for me before I hope they have not messed with it too much
I hope that this helps some people out there.
Now if I could figure out how to import my Outlook contacts, the import
feature is not working for me.
