Attempting to import OE Express contacts & mail

Have started using Windows Mail, and am attempting to import OE Express
contacts & mail. Can't make it work, no matter what I try. Any suggestions,
or tricks I am missing? So far, basically using "windows mail > File >
Import > windows contacts or messages (as the case may be) > etc. am unable
to get it to recognize anything.

Have you copied the files to be imported to an otherwise empty directory on
the hard drive of your Vista computer, and then made sure that all these
files
are read-write instead of readonly before you try to import them? Windows
Mail has problems importing from external drives or from readonly files.

(except perhaps the directory) are read-write instead of readonly before
trying to import the contacts file, for contacts, or the entire directory,
for the
messages? Windows Mail often has problems importing anything directly
from an external drive, or importing readonly files.
