Attachments in emails....

I have another question for someone please...

I am still a new user to the Outlook community, and am always full of
questions! So here is my next one...

Should I worry about keeping the number of emails saved that have attachments?
I have read alot of post about people concerned about the size of the .pst
file. So if I have emails that have like a 3MB attachment, and i just save it
to my saved mail folder....is this goign to be a problem later on? Should I
just save the attachement else where and delete the email? or can the
attachment just be detached and the email saved by itself?? Obviously, I would
much rather just save the email as it is, so if I need to forward it later, it
is ready to go....but I don't want to do this if it is going to cause a problem
with .pst file size. Anyone care to shed some light on this subject for me??
Don't know if it matters in this case, but I am using Outlook 2002. Thanks!!

It's really up to you. There are several third party addins available that
will help you organize your attachments if you choose to strip them from
your messages -- check www.slipstick.com for a list (search for
"housekeeping" or "attachments" and that should get you started). The
maximum file size for a .PST file in Outlook 2002 is 2GB, and you don't want
to get too far above 1GB or you'll start having problems, so keep an eye on
the file size if you decide to keep your attachments with the messages
themselves. You can also use the AutoArchive feature to move older messages
to archive files periodically, to keep your main file from becoming too big
(watch the size of the archive file, too, though <g>).
