When I send an attachment in Outlook XP (using POP3/SMTP server) to a Lotus
Notes Client, the Lotus Notes client receives it as winmail.dat. Though when
the Lotus Notes user sends an attachments to me, I receive it correctly in
Outlook. Any suggections/ patches/ solutions to overcome this problem?

Make sure you send the messages in Plain Text or HTML. The Winmail.dat
attachment is a sign of using Rich Text.

Even if you have the HTML option properly set up in Tools | Options -> Mail
Format, it's still possible for this to happen. Open up the recipient in the
address book (or by double-clicking the resolved address in the message
window) and make sure the "Internet Format" option is set to "Let Outlook
decide..." instead of "Send using Outlook Rich Text Format."
