ATI AIW 9700 PRO DV Sound Capture...?

Greetings. I've lookied through the NG for help on the following but
I'm not clear on anwser.

I have a DV Camcorder I use with Pinnacle Studio 8. I have the ATI
break out box connected to the A/V in connector. I have the stero plug
and the audio video connectors from the camera to the AIW card break
out box connected. I can capture the video fine but no sound. I don't
understand why I have to connect the card to the sound card if I'm
connecting all functions through the AIW card? I understand if you
want to output to a TV but to capture...?

To follow up on my message.


I connected the line-in plug to my on board sound card, ECS KS7VA PRO
mobo, and everytime I record. somehow the line-in slider from the
audio control panel shows the line-in 'muted' box selected even though
I uncheck it and close it and then record the analog video and sound.

What is causing this to revert to the 'mute' option when I record.

Any help would be appreciated
