ATI 9100IGP drivers needed.

Sept1967

Just purchased an Asus P4R800-VM (uses the new ATI 9100IGP chipset).

Looking for IDE Busmaster drivers for the ATI north/southbridges. Both ATI
and Asus only have the SMBus, GART, and 9100 video driver.

Looking for what both Intel and VIA have (busmaster drivers, INF setup
files).

Having trouble with a dual format DVD+/- RW 4x drive. Of all things, gives
an error trying to play a DVD Movie with media player (both 8 and 9
version). Also wont play a movie with PowerDVD XP 4.0 (same, gets error, and
just hangs).

XP Pro SP1 (several fresh loads, PowerDVD XP fresh install also).

Tried every BIOS, and most settings in BIOS. Also put in another DVD+/- RW
drive from another PC that works, same symptom.

Yes, clean install of XP Pro (SP1). Then the Asus CD with drivers. No
problems in device manager .

I have never had to use any ASPI manager (yet?).
If they arent included with Windows, are they needed for a standard IDE
device?

Ill look into it. This same drive worked with the same type of setup just
months before (With standard XP Pro SP1 + motherboard chipset busmaster
drivers). This is the first I have tried the new type of ATI chipset.

"Peter" person...YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
You set me in the right direction. I have always used Nero (which loads its
own ASPI layer). I have never had a problem with it, or needed to actually
load a "system" ASPI driver. I must have grabbed too many files running
"msconfig" - clearing out extra garbage that loads at startup. I unchecked
NeroCheck (thinking it was a registration leftover). I clicked it to load,
rebooted, and my DVD plays movies again!!!!!
So NeroCheck must check for system ASPI drivers, and load them if not
present, and allow other programs to use the driver.

Thanks for a kick in the right direction...
