Atapi.sys or Imapi.sys UDFS_FILE_SYSTEM blue screen of death (BSOD

I am getting the BSOD when I load blank disc media into a Plextor PX716A DVD
burner. The following messages in the system event log are the only clues I
have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The description for Event ID ( 54 ) in Source ( Imapi ) cannot be found. The
local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL
files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the
/AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for
details. The following information is part of the event: .

An Io Request to the device \Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP1T1L0-20 did not complete
or canceled within the specific timeout. This can occur if the device driver
does not set a cancel routine for a given IO request packet.

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions, I checked/verified and followed
every lead from all your references and more, but my problems presist. I
have determined that the BSOD will occur only after I rip a DVD movie to my
hard drive and then either load a blank DVD or load a second DVD movie to
rip. I can burn backups of any number of movies with no problems, but once I
rip a DVD movie, the next DVD media loaded to my Plextor PX716A drive (blank
or otherwise) caused the BSOD.

All firmware, OS and software are up to date; I've rolled back Nero from
version 7 to 6 to none at all with no change in the BSOD behavior. I've
removed all software that has anything to do with DVD/CD burning except for
Nero and also removed Nero InCD. I've extensively tested each of my drives
with the Nero Toolkit and found no problems with the physical drive
operation. I changed the 40 conductor IDE ribbon cable to my CD and DVD
drives to an 80 conductor cable that came with my Plextor - I had not done
this initially when I installed the Plextor. I've uninstalled Nero7, run
Nero's registry cleaner, reinstalled Nero6 which never gave me problems, run
Nero's registry checker - no problems found - etc etc etc...... Nothing
seems to change my BSOD problem that started after I replaced my Sony DRU540
with a Plextor PX716A DVD burner.
