Windows Blue Screen of Death

I receive the windows blue screen of death after my Windows XP system
automatically reboots on its own.

Computer parameters
Microsoft XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon(TM) xp 2700+ Computer
2.17 Ghz, 1.50 GB of Ram

Here is the exact error message from the system event log:
Error code 0000009c, parameter1 00000002, parameter2 8054d570, parameter3
b6002000, parameter4 0000017a.

Try rebooting in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during the early
boot phase, then use System Restore to go back to a known
safe point.

It would also be a good idea to report the recent history of
this machine. These things don't happen by themselves - there
use usually a good reason for the problem.
