xp startup problems - Freezes at startup - Help

Robert

Posted a few days ago - problem persists:

Out of the blue it started with the problem, xp wanted to install a
fax, and if I closed those windows then i could continue working with
my computer. It got worse and I managed to salve my data and finally
I
gave it the file that xp was requesting Fax.cab I believe (got it
from
hp printer sotware) and then we got to a new dimension of problem: it
would freeze after several minutes into the booting process. I
figured
a software problem so as I had my data saved i did a recovery of my
computer which basically formats the HD and downloads the original
software. Didn'd work, did it again, rebooted a few times and finally
it worked. Rebboted it a few more times and worked fine. Thought I
had
beaten the problem but after I downloaded some of my data the problem
persisted. Next day I did another recovery using again the original
recovery disks to rule out my data and the problem still exists.

It is an acer notebook that had worked perfectly for 2 years until the
fax.cab issue.

Basically, if the startup process finishes the booting process it
works perfectly. Most of the time (90%) it freezes. It can be started
in safe mode.

Right now it started without problems and I'm posting bellow copies of
all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the System and Application
logs in Event Viewer for the last boot that had problems.

Can anyone assist?. Thanks to Gerry I'm posting the reports of last
startup with problems.

Thanks,

Robert

Please check the settings for these two Services -Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, Services. Both System Event Notification and
Windows Management Instrumentation need to have the StartUp type set to
Automatic. The Event ID: 10010 errors suggest these services may not be
set to automatic.

What exactly is your HP printer software? Other users have been
reporting problem with the auto update service?

What exactly do you mean when you say "a recovery of my computer"?

Hope this helps.

Hi Gerry,

Just checked and both are in automatic ...
(re Both System Event Notification and Windows Management
Instrumentation need to have the StartUp type set to Automatic).

re the hp software is a hp psc 1315 all in one scanner, printer and
copy machine.

Recovery of my computer:
I mean using the oem recovery disks that comes with the computer when
you buy it.

Hope this clarifies.

The thing is that as I haven shut down the computer in days it is
working perfectly. I haven't had the heart to restart it!

Regards, Robert
