I gotten the MVP award for voluntarily coming into these newsgroups and
helping people ranging in type from 'normal' to the criminally insane and
stupid.. in what way is that 'sucking up'?..

You should find out more about how and why we get the award instead of
criticising in ignorance.. Google it..

If you don't like MS or the product line, use something else.. and so that
you don't get somebody helping you that you regard as 'sucking up', go to
alt.windowsxp or a Linux group..

did step into the stupidity, and should have expected to meet you along

Glad you mentioned AOL cause I was going to do so myself. As for the good
old days, I don't remember the *bulk* of people practicing good netiquette
much less understanding and obeying the unwritten rules. Or perhaps I'm just
remembering the lambasting of those letting people have it for failing to
follow good manners at a minimum. Though I'm more of a "lurker" than a
poster, I have surely been hanging around Usenet (and primarily technical
groups) long enough to be an old timer.
