Greetings,

I had to rebuild my computer desktop. When it came to the OS, I opted for XP Pro. The used there OEM version.

It doesn't seem the same as by two others computers.

Any ideas?

OK, so far.

The used there OEM version.

This sentence makes no sense. The words are all English, but they're
not assembled in any meaningful sequence.

It doesn't seem the same as by two others computers.

Same for this one.

What, precisely, are you trying to say or ask?

I thought I would get a regular off the shelf package of XP.

If I could put into words I would do a much better. To say something like my profile no longer has Administer. I have a new work,
it no longer works. Says I don't have authorization.

I asked to be present when the installed the OS, and then didn't do that. When I tried to reinstall the OS, I did not recognize
what the other boxes had.

I understand that to mean whoever fixed your computer used an OEM
version.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that your user (username)
doesn't have administrator rights and thus there are things that the
system won't let you do.

I asked to be present when the installed the OS, and then didn't do
that. When I tried to reinstall the OS, I did not recognize what the
other boxes had.

I see that you are trying to reinstall but I don't understand what
the "other boxes" you mention are. Is there some error message or
information message that happens when you try to reinstall? If there is a
message, copy it exactly to your next reply.

Explain what it is that you are trying to accomplish. Do you really need
to reinstall or do you need someone to help you set your username to have
administrator privliges so that you can add a new program or something?
Or, is the problem something like you aren't able to look at some files
you had from before the repair? As soon as someone understands completely
what you need to do, you will get good help and sometimes even
step-by-step instructions.

This is where you are wrong. I am the administrator.

Other Boxes, Computers. One laptop second desktop.

I am having so much trouble with this computer, it will not run any Setup.exe file now, my DVD reader/burner does not allow me to
see the files on the CD or DVD. I can't plug in my other CD reader/burner. For some reason my 3Dconnexion, 'Space Mouse' cause the
computer on boot up to beep once then 5 double beeps. This computer was on the network with little or no problems, except for this
month. Something is happening but I have know idea why. It is not because of new software because I haven't install any new
software for months.

Too much going on. I want to purchase Vista and do a clean install. But Vista, is it worth it?

If I understand what you wrote above correctly, the computer doesn't even
boot up to Windows. Since you mentioned this happened right after getting
it back from repair, I think you should go back to the repair shop and ask
them to stand behind their repair.

Those "beep codes" during the power on self test indicate a hardware
fault. You would have to consult some documentation for the specific
motherboard and BIOS that you use to be sure to get the proper meaning of
the five double beeps. In this situation, the computer never comes up to
the point of being able to "see" anything on a CD or to run setup. If you
are not experienced with working on computer hardware this is probably the
time to take it to a professional. Testing memory and things like that can
be done by the end user but often they won't know how to properly
intrepret the results.

Not all older computers are able to run Vista acceptably. If there is a
hardware problem with the computer it won't do the Vista setup either,
even if it is powerful enough to run Vista.

I'm sorry, but it still isn't at all clear what you're trying to say.

Is English a second or third language for you? If so, may I
suggest that you try posting your question in a news group dedicated to
your native language? I say this not to insult or offend, but rather to
point out that you're not likely to get much help, if no one can
understand what you're asking.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you start by reposting in standard English,
complete with paragraphs, complete sentences, capital letters where
appropriate, and punctuation. As it is, your post is quite
undecipherable: most of the the words used are from the English
language, but are completely meaningless as currently assembled.

Rodney,

Something strange happened the other day, I quit using my profile because nothing worked, network, DVD, and things in general.

So I started to use my wife profile. Network worked, could install, and things were nice. Till the other day. Her profile quit.

So I went back to my profile, and things were working except for the installs.

I got problems that I can't explain.

I have in the past put new items in the computer and made them work, even a network. But today I can't understand anything about
this box.

Solved

I switched hard drive, and didn't get one jumper in the correct place. That all. That little jumper even caused network problems.

Everything working now.
