Installing software, Company Name isn't my name?

W

W. Kirk Crawford

Greetings,

I have a Toshiba Qosmio running Vista with SP1.

When I install new software and fill out the registration info, the computer
knows my name, but not the name of my company. Instead it put in Toshiba.

Where do I change this? I have looked into the Registry but found nothing.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Look for 'RegisteredOrganization' double click to open
& change the company name. Close Regedit, Check 'Winver'
from Start>winver (enter) to see what the result is.
If there isn't a key with the company name, click
'edit'>new string. name it RegisteredOrganization.
Hope this help you.

p.s. I don't know if this will populate your registration
process for software registration, however, it should let
your computer know what your Co. name is.

Lone,

I searched and found,
wcm://Microsoft-Windows-CoreOS?version=6.0.6001.18000&language=neutral&processorArchitecture=x86&publicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35&versionScope=nonSxS&scope=allUsers
But didn't find any, 'RegisteredOrganization'.

I also checked 'Winver' and it does say Toshiba.

Thanks but how do I change it?

Try doing a search in Regedit for "Toshiba", in values and data only. Then
change it in the appropriate location.

Paul,

There were no erros that I saw.

There is no right click and Run as Administrator.

Under Properties, it has me, under Security, as Group or user Names. I have
full control.

Thanks

Brink,

Now this helped. But it is Vista64. I wouldn't think that would make a
difference, but you never know what Windows has up it's sleeves.

Thanks for all of your help.
