Are All FireWire Cards Created Equal?

I did one test project on my MM using the USB connection that came with my
HandyCam. I like the program but want to get a FireWire to improve on the
picture and get rid of the droped frames. I'm thinking of getting this one....

or should i go a little higher end....

Or go even higher end, and what is the benifit....

I'm willing to spend the extra money if i'll get something for it. How many
things have the different types of connections, as in the a/b?

I'm sure all 3 would work the same for capture from your camcorder. But,
unless you already have the fir cable, look for a package deal that has the
card, cable, and probably some software thrown in.

I bought my card and cable separately, with no software, and then saw a kit
for less than I paid, which had editing software.

I'd certainly go for card and cable as Papajohn says. Without checking out
your links, make sure hte card is advertised as ohci compliant.

I noticed the same thing on "individual" prices -vs- a package deal. What is
the differance between the (2) 1394b and (1) 1394a 6 pin. I'll be using this
card to capture from my Sony HandyCam that has both iLink and FireWire
connections. Does this card have more than I'll ever need or will it maybe
come in handy in the future.

A card is so low in price that I wouldn't invest in the unknown future...
iLink and FireWire are two names for the same thing.... as is IEEE1394.

As Graham said, it needs to be OHCI compliant... I didn't see that on any of
your 3 web pages... check it on the box.
