Then there is the PCI Express issue, (to bridge or not to
bridge?) also coming, and if a new Motherboard is required,
for the new video bus, then which board with which CPU and
what chipset? If an AMD upgrade then should you wait for
the new socket type for the A64/FX?

There seems to be a whole lot of "temptations" lined-up
to get us.

That's a good point. With the newly released 64 bit processors from Intel
and the soon to be released PCI Express motherboards and PCI Express R420, a
thorough upgrade is on the horizon. This kind of alignment happens about as
often as planets align so this summer will be a rare opportunity to take
advantage of all of this new stuff.

And a wonderful opportunity for AMD, Intel, ATI, and Microsoft to beta test
their offerings using us... :)

I agree with this post. Get out there on the bleeding edge and let us know
how it turns out! It all sure sounds cool, but how cool is hair loss?

Ah, but there's much more than PCI Express on the horizon. We have the new
BTX form factor, DDR-2 memory and Serial ATA 2 coming out this year as well.
AMD will also continue to evolve their 64-bit processors too. Since my
computer is plenty powerful as it is, I don't plan to make any big changes
until next year when all of this new tech has had a chance to mature. :)

What "newly released 64-bit processors from Intel?" The only 64-bit
processor Intel is shipping is the Itanium and they've been shipping that
for several years.

You mean discover the bugs in it.
