Hello All:

Been searching for any software that will allow setting of quotas and also
provide auto archiving capabilities but cannot find anything. I would like
to not only set quota's on users etc, but have a scheduled scanning of a
volume lets say which will find files according to search parameters (file
age, size etc.) and automatically archive them to a predetermined location.

Does anything like that exist out there?

Thanks

Hello Stan,

Thank you for posting here.

I understand that you want a specific software which serves two functions.
One is setting quotas, the other is scheduled scanning for volume (based on
file age, size etc.) and the automatic archive of these files.

In regards to the first function, you may set Windows NT File System (NTFS)
volume disk quotas in Windows 2000.
Enabling Quota Management

1. Double-click My Computer to display the disk volumes that are available
on the server.
2. Right-click the disk volume that you want to manage, and then click
Properties.
3. Click the Quota tab.
4. If quotas have not been previously enabled on this volume, a status
message appears at the top of Quota properties that indicates that disk
quotas are disabled. To enable disk quotas, click to select the Enable
quota management check box, and then click OK.
5. Click OK to enable the quota system. Note that this process may make
your computer scan the hard disk again.

In addition, you may use the Disk Quota Management Script tool
(Diskquotasettings.pl) to configure disk quotas for NTFS file system
volumes of local and remote Windows 2000-based computers.

As per the second function, you need to create a file with some scripts
such as VB Script or Java script. There is no such a software built in
Windows which could achieve the goal completely. It appears that this is a
development-related request that would best be addressed in the developer
newsgroups. The developer newsgroups are located at:

I hope this information proves helpful to you. If you have any questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know. I am happy to be of
assistance.

Thanks and regards,
