aquiring IP address

I had a two computer network at home a laptop and a desktop and it was
working and still working perfect.coupl days ago i perchased a new desktopand
tried to connect it to host instead of the laptop but everytime i do i get
this message: aquiring a network address and after that i get a network cable
is unplugged.but still when i switch to the laptop it work just fine. any
suggestion and help is appreciated thanks in advance. Yas

Your post is a little light on detail. Where is the DHCP server on your
network? Are you using ICS? A hub/switch?

thanks for the site it was a god one.i had to check eveything again and again
on my network and when i changed the network cable everything seems to wrk
perfect .thanks again and keep up the good work
