DHCP

On my home wireless network I run on a static IP address and do not
have DHCP enabled on my router. When I visited a client, I temporarily
set my wireless adapter to obtain an address via DHCP so that I can get
on their network. Now that I am back home - and have re-configured a
static IP, my wireless connection is constantly trying to obtain an
address. Strangely, I am able to access the network on my private IP,
yet my wireless adapter's status says it is "aquiring and address".

Is there anything I can do to make the network adapter realize that it
is fixed - and doesn't need to try to aquire an address? As I said, I
am able to access the network, so this is really just an annoyance.

Also, I corrected it once by re-configuring my adapter to use DHCP,
then let it try to obtain an address. Then I did an "ipconfig
/release" then re-configured my fixed IP info. This solved the problem
- until my next reboot!

Hmmm. While waiting for a reply, I unchecked the "register this
connection in DNS" option and the problem appears to have gone away!
