Hi
I am running Win XP Pro SP2 on 2 computers. I have them networked by a cross
over cable. I recently re-imaged my main desktop. Since then, all I get now
once I have run the network setup wizard is Aquiring network address "
Limited or no connectivity" This worked fine before I re-imaged. It was very
simple.
If someone could shed some light
thx
The "Limited or no connectivity" message is normal for your setup in
XP SP2. It means that the computer couldn't communicate with a DHCP
server to get an IP address and that it won't have Internet access
through the LAN connection. Your computers should assign themselves
compatible IP addresses (169.254.x.x) and should be able to
communicate with each other without a DHCP server.
To turn off the message, right-click the LAN connection and un-check
the box that says "Notify me when this connection has limited or no
connectivity".
Make sure that the Windows Firewall is configured to allow file and
printer sharing. If you've installed a different firewall program,
configure that firewall to allow access on the local area network, and
disable the Windows Firewall.
