aquiring a network address

every time i boot my computer, i get to the bit where it logs on, plays the
log on sound, then every thing just hangs... i have noticed my dsl conection
icon in the task manager thingy has been trying to connect, i have since
found out this is aquiring a network address.( this takes about a mninute).
then when this finished searching, all my little icons load, and i am able to
use the computer.. this has only started happening since i upgraded to to sp2

i have my adsl modem connected via ethernet, and i have bridged another
connection to by pass the security of the modem, how ever it doesnt do this
aquire if i just have the one defaulted dsl connection
how can i get this to stop with out removing sp2
pc specs,

p4 3ghz
512 ram
dynalink rta100+ adsl modem (bridged connection)
60 gig hard drive

kratzie,

i experienced the exact same problem after sp2, i'm also looking for a
solution. because i found this delay annoying, i configured my ip address
manually as workaround until someone can provide a permanent solution, this
eliminated the delay.

i think this may be related to all the enhancements microsoft made for
wireless networking.
