Apps aren't starting

Dale

Recently a few of my applications stopped starting up when
I double-clicked their icons. I'm not a novice user, so
I'm not making the mistake of a missing shortcut or
anything like that. I also go to the problem folder itself
and double-click on the program's executable, with the same
result. I can reinstall the offending app, and it will
work, for a short time. After doing other things in
Windows, and coming back to the app, it again won't start.

I don't have a virus; I'm fairly certain of that. I do
have AntiVirus software and keep it updated.

Thanks for any help.

Try to reinstall latest windows service pack and all necessary updates from
windowsupdate. You could also get spyware scanner and scan for parasite
programs. Virus scanners won't typically recognize them.

I had this problem when I dropped AOL. There's a default
icon you have to click--in the internet explorer
properties or windows explorer properties or settings.
