I recently updated a medical app called UptoDate. The old icon no longer
launched the app so I changed the properties of the shortcut so that it
points to the correct app.
Now UptoDate launches when I double click on ANY start menu shortcut,
any desktop icon, any quick launch icon AND any executable file in My
Programs. UptoDate is also launched if I enter any executable file in
Start->run. I'm not able to fire up the DOS prompt because UptoDate starts.
I have uninstalled UptoDate and I not get "File not found" if I launch
an app.
If I log in as another user this problem does not occur.
I would like to avoid trashing the entire user account if possible.
If I need to trash the user account what is the best procedure? I need
to reinstate the same user name because we're running a network.
I was thinking of using System Restore but would like to avoid this if
possible.
This is a very strange problem and I'm completely perplexed about this one.
