Applying Settings Slow

Hi. We have Windows 2003 Server with about 200 XP Workstations on the
network. However, only for a few users, when they log on to their pcs,
it takes + - 10 minutes to logon. It remains on the Applying settings
for quite a while. Please advise.

This is usually caused by improper DNS settings so check that those
computers are set correctly. They should only be looking to the server
for their DNS. I assume that your server's DNS is correct because the
other machines on your network work well; i.e., the server should only
look to itself for DNS with forward/reverse lookup zones set for the
Internet.

Also check if there are drive mappings and/or other network resources
for which the problem machine are looking that no longer exist.

Have you looked in Event Viewer for clues on these machines? Did these
machines ever work correctly? If yes, what changed?
