Applying computer settings

Windows XP machines on my Win2K domain are taking a long long time booting.
When the user logs in the applying computer settings takes about 6 minutes.
I need a fix for this. Please help.

System Restore is turned off. I have at least 6GB of free space on each
computer.

DNS is configured correctly. AD integrated zones. Forwarders are configured
fine.
