applications not staying open

I recently upgraded from ME to XP Pro. I started updating
from the Microsoft site. I began getting the RPC error. I
downloaded the Norton AntiVirus trial. It found several
instances of MSBlast and the other popular one... can't
remember its name. I downloaded just the patch file for
the MSBlast exploit, and tried running it, it closes
itself after being open for less than a minute. I went
into safe mode. The patch file ran and seemed to finish.
NAV still won't open or stay open when it opens. Also,
Windows update seems to be acting up. I will go through
the steps... download, install, reboot, and the updates I
supposedly just installed still come up on the Update
site. Any ideas? Thanks.

I answered you in your first post, Adrian. Please try and keep posts in
*one* thread. Briefly, you have more than one virus on your system,
which you need to clean up. You probably have Klez or Yaha, one of the
viruses that breaks av programs. See your previous post for a more
thorough answer.
