Application Event Log is empty

S

Scott

When looking at the logs in the Event Viewer, the
Applicaton log is empty. A week ago all was well and
entries could be seen. Now nothing shows up.

The other Event Logs Directory Service, DNS Server, File
Replication Service, Security and System all have entries
and are being updated.

Why is the application event log not working? Is there a
way to fix it?

Thanks for the help.

The log file might be corrupted. Try this:

-Go to the Services MMC.
-Set the Event Log service to 'Disabled'
-Reboot the machine.
-Navigate to %systemroot%\system32\config folder
-Rename "appevent.evt" to "appevent.evt.old"
-Set Event Log service to "Automatic"
-Reboot machine once again

Rgds.
