Application and Security Log merged

Ok, I have one that is blowing my mind....

I have a 2000 DC that the application event log and security event log have
both of each others events....In other words the application log has both
security entries and application events, vice versa... I have tried all
clearing both logs and moving the log files...

These two keys are probably corrupt.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security
