Application Error

My system will not boot up because I receive the following message -
'lsass.exe Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.' I click and I then
have a blank screen. Is there anything I can do other than a product restore
from scratch. I would really appreciate some advice. Many thanks.

First try to Log into safe Mode by taping the F8 and when you get the Bootup
options select Safe Mode or the last good Cofiguration in either Modes try to
run a scan for malwares and Viruses online from here:

Then download the Spybot S&D:
http://www.safer-networking.org

Look for any Error messages in the Event Viewer by opening a run command and
type:
eventvwr click [OK] and look for Error Messaages (X) and post it here.
If all fail try to System repair :
