application error exception c0000005 all over the place

I've installed Win XP Pro 6 times in the last 5 days.
Every single one is rife with this error. It crashes
everything. IE6, Outlook Express 6, crashed my ATI
control panel *version 7 90* on boot up and has screwed
up program installations too. Eventually it makes my
entire XP Pro installation crash and refuse to boot. I
don't know why! It's OEM so I can't request help via MS.
My system is a homegrown, bought XP wholesale online.
HELP!!!

Otherwise, if you can boot to the XPpro CD (if you have an XPpro CD) you can
try a repair install or even a clean install, although the latter will wipe
your hard-drive.

Unfortunately, you don't provide enough information to get specific
answers. Here is some generic troubleshooting info about installation:

There are two ways of installing XP - a clean install where the hard
drive is formatted first and an upgrade install where the new operating
system is installed "on top" of the old operating system. If you are
doing the latter, try a clean install instead. Formatting the drive
will wipe all current data, so you would expect to reinstall programs
from cd and restore data from backups. If you are already doing a clean
install and the installation is failing, you probably have bad
hardware. Start with a RAM test - I like Memtest86 from
www.memtest86.com - and let the test run for an extended time, like
overnight (unless you get errors immediately). If the RAM is good, then
run a hard drive diagnostic utility, which you can get from the drive
mftr.'s website.
