Some ideas: For the thing you've removed umpteen times, restart in safe
mode and do full, deep scans until one comes through clean. Scan with
updated antivirus in safe mode as well.

For the issue with reactivating agents, see if this fix helps:
This is a stretch--it may not help, but it isn't too hard to try.
---------------------------
We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6 SP.
Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.

.
Hi Bill Application Agent Status
Before I received your reply to the no item will
reactivate after deactivate them . I was able to activate
them again by going to add and remove and clicking on
change and this fixed the problem . May not have been the
right way but I got the full protection back that I wanted
Thanks for your reply. About the returning BHO I've done
all that you advised several time. Ran spyblaster, ad-
aware se, norton anti virus and
updates,ccleaner,stringer, hijack it,spybot and search
Thought I might add that , when I do a scam I can remove
the IE TRAY problem everytime and that part works ok its
just that it keeps coming back. If I run a scan and
remove it then the next few scan imeadiatly following
will be ok But after a while wwhen I do other things and
come back and do a scan it has returned to my pc
Thanks

Sorry, wrong button.

If you are fully patched, you've got something still in place which is
putting this stuff back.

I'd look up a message from Ron Kinner - perhaps in the Announcements group.
Follow his posted instructions about obtaining and running HijackThis, and
getting him the resultant log via email.

Alternatively, go to

http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

and follow their cleaning protocol, and get HijackThis from there and post
in their forum.

HijackThis logs are the standard way at the moment for removing an unknown
bug or set of bugs from a system.
