Apple iTunes modifies network settings for Microsoft's MN-500

I received a video iPod tonight. I installed the iTunes software and all of a
sudden, all of my network settings have been changed. I have a desktop
running WinXP Pro SP1, a laptop that runs WinXP Pro SP2, and the Microsoft
MN-500 wireless base station. After I installed iTunes, my husband, who is
using the laptop connecting wirelessly, complained he could not get on the
Internet. When I checked his computer, I discovered that the network I set up
was no longer available, but an alternate one without security settings was.
All of the information he is sending out is in the clear. What is worse, is
that when I tried to log into the base station my password has also been
reset. I can't log into the base station to reset the security settings for
my wireless network.

What did iTunes do? Other than resetting the base station, is there a fix
for this problem? I am NOT happy that this has happened.

Karen,

This may be unrelated, but I just started having issues with Itunes
this past weekend. If I start Itunes on my wireless laptop, the
connection starts to degrade immediately until I disconnect from my
wireless network. I am unable to see any access points until I restart.
If I start Itunes on my desktop, the network connection dies and I have
to reset my routers and access points. The last time I started Itunes
was the first week of December. This is really driving me crazy. I have
done a system restore to get my system to take it back to mid November
to see if updates to XP could have caused this, but no luck. I know
others are having this problem, but I am not finding many posts about
it. Leo Laporte's Pod Cast of KFI's Tech Guy #201 has someone calling
in with the same issues. I will be adding some search words after my
sig to help others find this thread.
I plan to try older versions of Itunes, if I still have the installers,
to see if I can resolve this problem.
