Problems with new MN-820 Wireless

I received an MN-820 Wireless notebook kit for Christmas
and I cannot get it to work. The interesting thing is
that I can get an old Symbol PCMCIA card to work with a
NetGear base station with my LapTop, but not the new
Microsoft equipment. I know the MN-820 works under some
circumstances because it does function when the the card
is installed in the laptop I took the Symbol card from. I
have even been able to get the Symbol card to talk with
the Microsoft base station.

When the Microsoft card is installed, it will report the
MS network to be available, but does not connect. I have
tried multiple methods of getting it to connect. Most of
the time it just does not connect, but I did get it to
complain that the security code was not valid. I knw I
had the code keyed in correctly because I pasted it in
from the same text file I used to configure the base
station. I even tried turning off security both at the
base station and the card, but the same symptoms.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

what brand and model laptop? have you downloaded and applied
