USB ADSL Modem/Ethernet Base Station

I started using my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Kit (MN-620) when I had a
cable connection, but when I moved the ADSL modem connection was a USB cable.

The problem I'm having is that I can't share my internet connection, since
my ADSL modem won't connect to the ethernet base station. I'm sure there
must be a way to connect it to my computer and then use the wireless base
station to wirelessly connect my laptop to the internet using its built in
wireless b/g.

Please let me know if you can manually configure the computer to make this
happen.

Thanks,
Tim

One way to do what you want is:

1. Configure the wireless base station as a wireless access point
only, bypassing its routing and DHCP capabilities. See the base
station User Guide for information.

2. Connect a LAN port of the base station to your computer's wired
Ethernet adapter. You might need to use a crossover cable or connect
to an uplink port on the base station.

3. Enable Internet Connection Sharing on your computer's ADSL
connection, using the wired Ethernet adapter for the home network.

Tim,

You can connect the USB cable to your (desktop?) computer, and use that computer
to share the service, thru ICS.

You use the base station (WiFi router) as a WAP (wireless hub).

Then you run the Network Setup Wizard on the (desktop) computer, and on the
laptop.
# You choose Option 1 "This computer connects directly to the Internet. The
other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer." on
the ICS host.
# You choose Option 2 "This computer connects to the Internet through another
computer on my network or through a residential gateway." on the laptop.
