Web surfing problem though my net works

After working fine, my PC can't access the Web. IE displays DNS - server not found errors.

I have a laptop and a PC, both with wireless adapters connected to a Microsoft MN-500 wireless base station, as a workgroup network and Internet access point. The base station is plugged into a DSL modem.

I know the wireless adapters are working -- I can copy files from laptop to PC. Both get IP addresses OK from the base station. I can ping each machine.

But now only the laptop (WinXP Pro) can surf the Web. The PC (Win2K Pro) shows only DNS error pages. (I actually got Word (not IE) to load a Web page one time, then it had DNS errors after that).

I am Not using XP's Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop -- I understand the base station does that for the network.
The Internet Firewall is enabled. Both machine's adapters have TCP/IP, Client for MS Networks, and File and Printer Sharing enabled. The Base Station is set to infrastructure network mode (not bridging). What else?
I reinstalled IE 6 SP 1 on the PC in case IE itself was messed up.

I've even examined net packets from the PC. I'm not an expert, but it seems the PC is getting valid DNS responses from the base station; it just doesn't go to the address -- it seems not to even send an HTTP request after getting the DNS address for a page.
I have no idea what's going on, so any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

.
Try to ping an internet address by IP Address
if you're able to ping an internet address by IP Address
then it sounds like a typical "spyware" issue. The
easiest solution is to download the latest version of
AdAware from http://www.lavasoft.com

When you first open the program, make sure you
click "Check for updates now"
