APP_BK_048 Nightmare! Help if you can

N

Newsgroupie 9

I am having a major problem at work. A staff member cannot use her computer
because this little window keeps popping up:

APP_BK_048

Connection timed out.
(Error #10060)

And it keeps popping up and popping up and popping up.

I went onto the internet but found nothing relating to APP_BK_048

I found some articles on #10060 as an error but it had to do with Eudora
email (she doesn't use Eudora. She uses Outlook).

I called in some computer guy but he couldn't figure it out and said she
should use somebody else's computer and he would reformat the hard drive and
start all over with installing everything on it.

We have 10 computers in our office. A server and nine workstations. No
other work station is having this problem. We all use XP and the Server is
2000.

All cables are firmly connected to her computer. She can surf the internet.
Check her email but this little window constantly pops up and it is becoming
extremely frustrating.

Please help if you can.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this box and fix the problem?

As a follow-up on my previous message: Since I don't know what cgtask.exe
is used for, i.e., it might be necessary for something else, I would
hesitate a bit to outright delete it, as suggested in the newsgroup posting
referenced below. Therefore, before deleting cgtask.exe, I would search
first for all registry keys containing "cgtask.exe". If you find something
like
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Cgtask
Services=cgtask.exe
backup the key, then delete the key. Now reboot, and see if the system acts
up again. That might take care of the problem. If it doesn't, proceed as in
the newsgroup posting.

I follow the annoyance webside said to delete the
cgtask.exe and it works! You should as well try that, but
don't empty the recycle bin, if anything not functioning,
then you can just restore it :)
