john

I have printed hundreds of 8x10's on my 785ex epson using MIS inks.
Since I have tons of paper and am sick of the pain in the rearend chip
resetting and messy refilling of the epson cartridges-I 've seen new
s9000's cheap online HAS ANYONE USED EPSON paper on s9000 with results
as good as what I've gotten? Can the s9000, with epson heavyweight
matte and gloss, give great results. PLEASE LET ME KNOW !!! thanks

Yes, I had some Epson glossy paper when I got my s9000. Worked a treat.

Gloss is fine - just takes a little longer to dry than the Canon paper.
Not used Epson Matte.

My epson print head died after a full 2 years and about 300 8x10's,
cleaning etc. won't help. I was using MIS ink-did that do it or was it
just wear? Should I use mis inks in the new s9000? thanks

I am no expert. ISTM that if you want the quality of the 9000 after all
I paid *full* price!) you shouldn't immediately go for dubious inks. I
have no experience of MIS.

I have had the occasional blockage over the past 20 months. But both
from Canon inks *and* from Jet-tec. However, my own caution stops me
from using a wide variety of substitute inks.

nor is there any size choices...

In the UK, Canon Paper and Epson paper retail at roughly the same price.
I have A3 & A4 PRO-101 with stunning results on the S9000, and have
recently taken to the Canon Matt MP-101 (a4 only regrettably) which is
delightful, and much cheaper than the glossy.

I use Epson glossy in 19"x 13" (A3+) size, and in roll form for
panoramas. It ain't cheap tho'!
