Hi All,,,,

Just checking to see if I'm not the only one with the paper / ink / printer
dance ???

I've been using Epson photo papers for some time (2+ years) and in the
interest of better quality for my customers, been trying other papers with
VERY mixed results. Am posting MY results for information and discussion.

Printer - Canon S9000 - Inks - "InkGirl.com" refill and CANON original inks.

Papers -

Epson Professional Media Photo Paper - getting good results - no "grain" -
color is a little toward the yellow (slight tint - can correct) Base paper
for this discussion..

HP premium Photo Paper - color is good - am getting a "alligator grain" in
parts of the photo -

HP Professional Photo - Satin - feels great - but still getting the grain -
smaller tho

Office Max Satin - some grain

Office Max Premium Photo Paper - better but not sellable

Office Max Professional Glossy Photo Paper - still not sellable

Several different papers were printed at the same time - same picture - same
settings - vast different results...

Yes, I know - if Epson is your best - use it - - - - but as I said up top -
I am always looking for better to give to my clients - - - any suggestions
???

Thanks and Happy Holidays To ALL !!...

I'm curious why you seem to have tried every paper marketed by a
printer manufacturer *except* for the obvious one.

Any reason why you haven't tried Canon paper? I've never found either
Epson or HP to be especially wonderful on any printer except Epson and
HP respectively.

Nothing has beat (to my eye) Red River Polar
Gloss for performance and durability. No beading,
no alligator skin, dries instantly.

That's what I use, Polar Gloss. It's far less expensive, especially in
larger quantities, and the packaging is the best in the business.

I bought and used the Red River paper sample pack and found the papers
to be of similar print quality to Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper.
As to durability, below are some sites that address the longevity
issue. I do not know if this matters to you since it wa not mentioned.
The Red River appears to be much better with the Canon 9000 printer
than Canon Photo Paper Pro which is rated at 2 years and the Red River
Polar Gloss #66, is rated At 8 Years. Below are some sites to check
out. I think it important to note that this paper formulation (in
2002) did have the "orange shift problem" that Epson and Canon had in
some locations throughout the US. I do not experience this problem at
my location so I can not address this issue.
