Epson R1800 special papers. Suggestions ?

Joseph Chamberlain

Dear members:

I am currently working on a project and need to print on specific papers
that I haven't yet been able to find.

The paper should be heavyweight and ideally coated for printing on both
sides. I have tried Epson's Double-sided Matte but found it to be too light.
The same happened to Epson's Premium Semigloss Photo paper. The surface
texture and gloss of Epson's Premium Semigloss paper is ideal for my project
but the weight is not even close.

Do you know of any paper that would be extra heavy (heavier than Epson's
Double-sided Matte with approximately twice its weight), printable on both
sides and with a surface treatment similar to Epson's Premium Semigloss
Photo paper ? What about a Matte paper ?

Any suggestions will be appreciate.

Thank you in advance,

Joseph

Joseph - I've been using Staples photo supreme double sided matte. It is
heavier than the Epson double sided matte and has more "snap" - that is more
card-like. I use it for greeting cards and invitations. Although the
weight printed on the package does not appear to be substantially heavier
than the Epson paper, it is considerably different in feel. Prints
beautifully as well. Occasionally I get staples discount coupons, and I was
also able to buy it once when they had a weekly special with two packs for
the price of one. At full price it is still cheaper than the Epson and
better besides. Just be sure you get the photo supreme product as they also
have a lighter matte paper.

I was at Costco last week and saw a new product for that store - Kodak heavy
Matte paper coated on both sides. It is even lighter than the Epson and not
useful, in my estimation, for anything that needs to resemble card stock.
because the price is right I didn't bother to take it back, and I will use
it for test prints for my graphics projects.

Hello Joseph, I have forwarded your inquiry to the photo paper folks at my
shop to find an answer to this question. I'll post it here when I get it.

Sorry, we know of nothing that fits those requirements. Total strike out.
