ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT "MEMOKIT" SOLD BY MCAFFEE?

I have a no-name-brand computer (my brother-in-law
and I assembled it). It runs WIN XP (Home Ed with
Service Pack 1 and with all updates installed) with an
AMD 2000+ CPU and 512 MB of 133 memory (non-DDR).
However, if I set the CMOS to the rated CPU speed
(2000+), the computer starts locking up for some reason.
If I set it to the slower setting (1250+), the locks
seems to disappear. The lock ups are more apparent when
surfing (not even downloading anything!) the web.
MEMOKIT (offered by McAffee Online at $29.95)
promises to optimize computers to eliminate this (and
other) problem. It seems reasonable and coming from a
reputable company. BUT before I plunk down my money, I
want to know if anybody out there has tried it and can
comment about its performance. The offer can be accessed
at the following link:

Additional computer details: 80 GB hard drive, a CD-
RW drive, a DVD-ROM drive, an NVIDIA GeFORCE MX 420 video
card, and a SB sound card.
Thanks, Bob

I think you are confused about the relationship between
your pocessors model number and speed! That particular
unit operates at 1.667GHz, not 2000MHz!

You are absolutely correct. It does run at 1.667 MHz.
Nevertheless, the relevant issue is, when I use the
slower setting (via CMOS) the computer does not lock up
whereas it does when set at the faster setting (perhaps I
am referring to bus speed?). Also, are you familiar with
MEMOKIT?
Thanks, Bob

Duh! You are trying to set the system to operate at 2.GHZ and it is only
rated at 1.66. You are overclocking the CPU and it will lock up.

What setting are you using? XP2000 CPU should be using FSB of 133. If
your system only runs with FSB of 100 it is either overheating or memory is
faulty. Cheap memory often shows this problem.

The CPU clock speed for an AMD 2000 is about 1600 MHz.
You're over-clocking when you set 2 GHz for the CPU.
