Anybody familiar with Harmon Kardon subs?

I picked up a HK subwoofer from a friend, it was part of a PC multimedia
speaker set. The sub has stereo input, and also a mini-din jack to hook up
the small satellite speakers (which I don't have yet, may never have). The
sub has AC power input, however it seems the sub won't work unless it has
the satellite speakers plugged in. Boo hoo.

I am considering using the sub on my TV, if I can get the thing to power up.
But I may never get the two small speakers, so I may have to tinker with it.
Any tips?

Thanks,

Can't say for sure about that model but I suspect that the 'satellite
speakers' are more than just speakers and, in particular, contain the
controls for the amp in the subwoofer unit.
